It’s Show Time For These Challenges
While growing up has never been easy, today’s world undeniably presents kids and their parents with unprecedented challenges – and with the National Institute of Mental Health reporting that 25 percent of children experience anxiety and 14 percent have a mood disorder. National Public Radio recently shared that as many as five million public school students have mental-emotional issues such as depression and anxiety, the release of her new book The Emotionally Healthy Child: Helping Your Child Calm, Center, and Make Smarter Choices (2018) is timely indeed.
Healy Heals With A Plan
In The Emotionally Healthy Child, Healy explains that emotional health is the ability to make better choices, even when feeling anger or another big emotion. She describes that the ability to — Stop, Calm, and Make a Smarter Choice — is key to expressing emotions constructively. While not always easy, these steps are powerful, and Healy shows readers exactly how to implement them so they can help children find equilibrium at the moment and build emotional well-being over the long-term.
Game On: Healy Loves Both Healthy Solutions & Practice
We review these self-management issues in our discussion, and timed the topic perfectly for the Holidays!
Healy gives adults the ideas and real-life strategies they need to raise emotionally healthy children. Her book delves deeply into what children need to know, what children need to do, and what speeds up the process of emotional health. It also includes a toolbox full of mindfulness tools designed to help readers put the ideas throughout the book into practice.

- Interesting, Important and helpful
April 28, 2018 by J.M.I from Sweden
I am listening in from Sweden, and I learn so much from Dr Parker and his interesting guests. Sadly, information like this is hard to find amongst practitioners here, and underlying factors to symptoms are of little interest. I am thankful to Dr Parker dedicating time in spreading word about helping people with psycological dysfunctions from a non conventional angle. Thank you!

If you love science and psychology, then this is for you. The brain is such a mysterious machine, and listening to experts discuss how it works is fascinating. This seems like a pick-and-choose type podcast: I’ll skip the shows focusing on estrogen and alzeimer’s and go for creativity, anxiety, music, and others. But what I’ve listened to so far is great.

- “How I Found Myself” Dean Roberts
December 2, 2016 by Don Hutcheson from United States
I just had the pleasure of listening to Dr. Charles Parker’s latest interview with Mr. Dean Roberts on the topic: “How I Found Myself.” The thesis of this remarkable podcast is that the difference between treatment success and failure for conditions such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD and others is often the result of omitting crucial brain, biomedical, and functional neuroscience information and insights. Well done and much-needed. Wish you continuing success!
